This is the first of (at least) fourteen books in a series the author (Richard P. Belcher) defines as theological novels. This particular book covers “The Doctrines of Grace” through the eyes of the character Ira Pointer. Other books include theology on Purity, Authority, the Spirit, Inspiration, Providence, Eschatology, Salvation, Revival, Baptism, Roman Catholicism, God’s Glory, Faith, and God’s Sovereignty.
The point of posting it here is not to convert anyone. Rather, it is to help those who may be interested in understanding the topic better. The nature of the writing goes step by step, building upon itself, as if one were studying and having conversations on the subject themselves. However, it is not a technical book, filled with lots of big theological terms, which would take time and serious concentration. It can be read in an easy, enjoyable setting like any good book.
Likely, readers here have heard the phrase (or similar): “chew the meat and spit out the bones.” This book makes it easy for each to determine what they view as the meat and the bones. However, at the end, the hope is that brotherly love will be found or remembered in understanding why and how we find ourselves disagreeing with one another. To hammer it home: all who have repented and put faith in Jesus Christ are brothers and sisters, called to love one another. May the Word be our authority and the Spirit our guide.
